Amy Shea Consultancy, Inc., founded in 2006, specializes in turning research data into brand narrative.
ASC works with clients to fuse right-brain creativity and left-brain research expertise. Using either a thorough review of existing research, or designing and conducting customized research–both qualitative and quantitative–ASC fuses research insights with foundational story elements to inform and develop a brand’s most resonant narrative. ASC is founded on a consortium business model, bringing together trusted research partners and brand marketing teams, shepherding story building projects from problem identification through to the findings that contribute to successful brand storytelling.
Amy Shea, Founder and President, designs and oversees all projects.
Amy Shea holds degrees in creative writing and market research, and has been recognized with both major creative writing fellowships and two David Ogilvy Awards for excellence in research, bringing recognized excellence in both the arts and sciences to ensure your brand story is based on data and imagination. In 2008, Shea was awarded a Great Minds Award from the Advertising Research Foundation–industry recognition of her contribution to breaking new ground in how consumer brand metrics could be used to identify effective story communication.
Before devoting herself full-time to her own brand story-building practice, Shea served as Brand Keys Global Director of Brand Development for five years, working with clients across categories and countries, specializing in a 360-degree view of the drivers of brand engagement and how to migrate those drivers into a strategically-sound brand story. Prior to that, she was Vice President and Research Director of Ameritest for seven years, where she concentrated on advertising research and contributed to the body of knowledge in the field serving on the AAAA/ARF Committee on Emotional Response in Advertising. In addition, she has taught creative writing and literary theory at the college level.
Shea is widely published in both literary and academic journals. She is author of a book of short stories, Defending Happiness, and other acts of bravery, and is co-author of a business book with Dr. Robert Passikoff, The Certainty Principle: How to Guarantee Brand Profits in the Consumer Engagement Marketplace. Shea is also a sought-after speaker on the international stage for her engaging story-telling style of presentation. Her academic background includes Harvard University, The University of New Hampshire, and the University of Georgia, and her writing fellowships include the Dylan Thomas Poetry Fellowship from the Paris Review and a poetry fellowship at Wesleyan University, as well as a writing residency at the prestigious MacDowell Colony, among others. She has also studied story construction, specifically for film implementation, extensively with Robert McKee, author of Story: Substance, Structure, Style and the Principles of Screenwriting.
